Join us for the second installment in the series of SBA contracting certification workshops. We will review the Women Owned Small Business Certification benefits, the program eligibility requirements; the process on how to get certified and how to maintain your certification. The SBA contracting series is presented in collaboration with SBA’s resource partners, the Nevada Women’s Business Center, and the Nevada APEX Accelerator.
WOSB and EDWOSB PROGRAM FACTS:
• The federal government’s goal is to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to women-owned small businesses each year. The federal government limits competition for certain contracts to businesses that participate in the WOSB Program.
• These contracts are specific industries where WOSBs are underrepresented. Some contracts are restricted further to economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses (EDWOSBs).
• Women-owned small business concerns that do not participate in the program may continue to self-certify their status, receive contract awards outside of the program.
• SBA continues to allow participation from businesses that utilize SBA-approved Third-Party Certifiers (TPCs) to obtain WOSB or EDWOSB certification provided that these firms submit their TPC certification and proof of citizenship at www.WOSB.Certify.sba.gov
